The house faces onto upper Corralitas Drive and is buffered from the street by a combination of program (bathrooms, closets, and the garage face the street), and by the façade treatment, which features minimal use of fenestration.
The Rear façade, while in the sightline of the Glendale Freeway features some of the best views. The public spaces (dining area and media room) have the largest windows so as to capture light and views. The private spaces (the master bedroom and the guest bedroom) have panoramic slit windows so as to minimize the exposure to noise and to ensure privacy. The walls around each window in these spaces are built out with soffits and built-in storage, so as to allow for sound dampening. While the site is currently barren, plantings of trees will be made so that eventually the sound from the freeway (at least in the lower spaces) will be dampened even further.
